Cause

An ink tank cannot be recognized. Possible causes include the following.

- The ink tank is not installed properly.

- The installed ink tank is not compatible with this printer.

What to Do

The action you should take to resume operating the printer depends upon which function you intend to use.

  1. To PRINT or COPY

    Check the ink tank is installed properly.

    If the ink tanks are already installed, remove the ink tanks in accordance with the procedures set forth in the manual, make sure that the ink tanks are compatible with this printer.

    Then install the ink tanks again.

    To cancel printing, tap [Stop] on the printer.

  2. To SCAN

    You should take one of the following steps:

    - Tap [Stop] on the printer if you intend to scan by using the operation panel on the printer. You will be able to scan.

    OR

    - Scan from an external device such as a computer, smartphone, or tablet using the corresponding application software.
