Cause

The ink tank may be an ink tank that ran out of genuine Canon ink or a counterfeit Canon ink tank.

What to Do

The action you should take to resume operating the printer depends upon which function you intend to use.

  1. To PRINT or COPY

You must replace the ink tank or disable the function that detects the level of ink remaining following the printer’s instruction shown on the touch screen.

The fact that you have disabled the function for detecting the remaining ink level will be memorized. Please be advised that Canon shall not be liable for any malfunction or trouble caused by using a non-genuine Canon ink tank or by using non-genuine Canon ink.

  2. To SCAN

You should take one of the following steps:

    - Cancel error status temporarily following the printer’s instruction shown on the touch screen if you intend to scan by using the operation panel on the printer. You will be able to scan.

    OR

    - Scan from an external device such as a computer, smartphone, or tablet using the corresponding application software.

Note

  • If the function for detecting the remaining ink level is disabled, the ink tank will be displayed in white on the touch screen when you check the estimated remaining ink level.
