Print with IFTTT

Integrate your printer with your favorite apps or web services to make printing even more efficient.
Use IFTTT to automate printing of items you print regularly by integrating your printer with your favorite apps or web services.

What Is IFTTT?

IFTTT is an abbreviation for IF This Then That. With IFTTT you can create "applets" by selecting "This" and "That" from compatible web services.

  • Automates tasks with "if A, then do B" statements (applets) for efficient time management.

Recommended Use

  • Print in combination with web services such as Dropbox and Google Drive.
  • Combine with a scheduling service to print Number Place at a regular time.
  • Automatically print photos with a specified hashtag when they are posted on Instagram.

Items Required (Materials, Tools)

  • A computer, smartphone, or tablet (iOS or Android)
  • Inkjet paper

The following uses printing from Dropbox as an example.


  1. STEP

    Check that the printer is turned on, or that the Auto power on function is enabled.

    For more details on the Auto power on function, refer to the Online Manual.

  2. STEP

    Open the IFTTT app, search for the "Canon Inkjet Print" applet, and enable it.

  3. STEP

    Log into Canon Inkjet Cloud Printing Center.

    If you do not have a Canon Inkjet Cloud Printing Center account, create one to proceed.

    Printing is performed on the default printer registered to the Canon Inkjet Cloud Printing Center account.

  4. STEP

    Log into Dropbox, and then specify Dropbox folder.

  5. STEP

    Check the printer settings and Save.

Example use case

  • A professor could use IFTTT to automatically print out student's reports when the students upload them to the professor's Dropbox folder.

Creates IFTTT applet.

Student A

Uploads report to the professor's Dropbox folder.


Report printed from the professor's printer.
